About the Wenatchee H.S. Mariachi Program

As featured on FOX , ABC Network, Despierta America, & the CBS Evening News, the Golden Apple Award winning Wenatchee School District’s Mariachi Program has been nationally recognized as being the fastest growing mariachi music program outside of Mexico, currently integrating over 300 participating students ages 9-18. The program first became popular among Hispanic & Latino students; but every year the program sees increased participation by non-Latino students as well.

Thanks to its many local supporters, the program has been able to continually provide access to musical instruments free of cost to all its students who are in turn encouraged to pay it forward by modeling good citizenship, volunteering, and performing at community events, senior centers, colleges & universities, and non-profits.

Mariachi Huenachi – “Washington State Number one High School Mariachi”

Mariachi Huenachi is the advanced mariachi class at Wenatchee High School, part of the Golden Apple Award winning Wenatchee School District’s Mariachi Music Program that has recently made national headlines being featured on FOX, ABC Networks, and on the CBS Evening News. It is no wonder Mariachi Huenachi has earned a reputation as the best high school mariachi in the State of Washington. The group performs annually at dozens of festivals, government, and community events in and out of State. Past performances include: Seahawks, Mariners, and Chivas de Guadalajara games, Washington State University, University of Idaho, Folklife Festival, EMP, and for Latino Legislature Day and important Bill Signings at the State Capitol.

In summer of 2009, Mariachi Huenachi shared the stage with the renowned group Los Tigres Del Norte; in 2011, the group opened for Mariachi Vargas–known internationally as ”the best Mariachi in the World”; in 2013, Mariachi Huenachi joined Mexican icon, Joan Sebastian in concert when he came through Wenatchee on tour. In 2014 they opened for the George Lopez show.
